Evelyn was born and raised in Evergreen Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She and her ten siblings lived in a small house that her father, a carpenter, built for them. There were not enough bedrooms, so most of the children slept dormitory-style in the uninsulated attic. Despite the crowded and meager existence, their home was filled with love and Christian guidance.
After graduating from Evergreen Park High School, she was married to Gordon Linz on January 27, 1951, and their marriage was blessed with three sons, David, Steven, and Wesley, and one daughter, Cynthia. Gordon passed away in 1987, and Evelyn then married Robert (Bob) Bond in February, 1992. They were blessed with 25 years together, until the time of Bob’s passing in April, 2017.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, always willing to sacrifice to make sure her family could develop their God-given abilities. As a result, many have been blessed by beautiful music and inspired worship. She was a long time member of Eastside Assembly of God in Tucson, where she contributed through special music, singing in the choir, and ministering wherever needed. She was faithful in whatever she did, believing in the power of prayer and constantly praying for the spiritual and physical needs of her friends and family.
Evelyn is survived by sisters Dorothy, Ruth, Gladys, and Darlene; children Dave, Steve, Wes, Cindy and their spouses; step-children Jean, David, Bobby, Doug and spouses; grandchildren Gina, Greg, Stephanie, Charity, Jonathan, and Tim; step-grandchildren Dustin, Jay, and Danielle, as well as seven great-grandchildren and one on the way!
