

On April 4, 2016, God called him home to the Heavens above. Filiberto was born in Walsenburg Co. on May 22, 1929. On September 29,1951 he married his “life-long love" Karoline W. Baca “Omi”; whom he met in Wiesbaden, Germany while serving in the United States Air Force. Filiberto served the United States Air Force from May 24, 1946 through May 31,1968; when he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. Filiberto moved his family to Tucson, AZ in 1968, where he has resided since. He began working Civil Service as the Base Housing Officer and held that position for 22 years. In 2005, Filiberto began volunteering at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Tucson and volunteered for 9 years serving his fellow veterans. Filiberto was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus. He was the only Honorary Life Time member of the Tucson German American Club where he held the longest standing title of “President” for 12 years. A position he held with utmost dignity. Filiberto is survived by his one and only daughter, Sonya Baca Condo, her husband Robert A. Condo, III, his beautiful granddaughter Katrina Marie Figueroa and his sister Elvira Hillary, age 91. Filiberto's hobbies were playing the guitar, singing, dancing, gardening and leather work. He also took pride in the 8 languages he spoke fluently. He loved people and always had a “joke” to share. Opa/Dad, keep smiling be happy with Omi until we are all reunited someday! We love you so much and miss you! A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, April 15 at 12:30 PM at the East Lawn Palms Cemetery Mausoleum.
