Mick was born on February 12, 1938 to Linwood Charles Tatro & Muriel Marie Steerey in Hudson, NY. At the age of 17, Mick enlisted into the United States Navy serving for almost five years, some of which was on the aircraft carrier, USS Lake Champlain. He then transferred into the United States Air Force, finishing out his 20 years of service. A few years later after a variety of jobs, Mick found his calling within the Pima County Sheriff's Department - Corrections Facility, retiring after nearly 20 years of service.
In 1957, Mick met Shirley in New York while both were serving in the United States Navy. Mick and Shirley went on to have three children, Kathy Marie Elberth, Victor Linwood Tatro, and Binda Diane Tatro.
In 1984, Mick met Holly at the VFW 549 in Tucson, AZ, later marrying in 1986. Mick and Holly went on to have their only son, Linwood “Scott” Tatro. For 37 years of marriage, they shared a very special connection and love.
In 2000, Mick retired and spent his time volunteering at Carson Middle School for many years while enjoying his free time at home: watching western and crime shows, gardening, woodworking, leather work, piddling around the house and helping family and friends install American flags poles as his patriotic passion. His greatest enjoyment(s) were watching his son, Linwood play various sports, spending time with family, and having the company of his dogs, especially feeding them bacon and sharing a scoop of ice cream.
Mick was a Life Member at the VFW and American Legion. He was a proud and passionate supporter of the University of Arizona Basketball program. He also found happiness and pleasure camping and hunting with family and friends, as well as enjoying time on the front porch with neighbors.
