Fraynia Merle Snyder, 89 of Tucson passed away November 8, 2020. She was born December 11 1930 to Urie and Elsie Slaubaugh in a two-story farmhouse called White Gables (the beginning location of the “Iowa Mennonite School) outside Wellman, Iowa. She graduated from Eagleville, a one room schoolhouse down the road from her parents’ farm.
On September 6, 1951 she married her first love, Ward Lanceford Snyder. They were married 67 years
She enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting and sewing clothes. She worked in restaurants, and households and at the Maplecrest packing plant in Kalona Iowa to help the family thrive.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ward, and parents Urie and Elsie. along with her siblings Philip, Melvin “Frogs”, Wayne, Robert “Radge, and Glennis (Speas).
Survivors include her brother Douglas and sisters Patricia “Patty” (Vincent) and Shirley (Kuhns). Her children Michael (Paula) Snyder of Albuquerque and Glenys Diane (Timothy) Leong of Tucson. Her grandchildren Paul (Patricia) Leong, Elizabeth Leong and greatgrandchild Patrick Leong.
She was a wonderful Mother and she adored her children and grandchildren.
