

George Cohen Jr., born on January 10, 1938 in Monroe, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 87. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend whose presence touched the lives of many.
George was the beloved son of the late Anthem Critleson and George Cohen Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Jill Cohen; his sister, Louise Cohen Hood; his children, Roland Cohen, George “Duke” Cohen, and Patricia Cohen; and his cherished bonus daughters, Leah Ware and Erika Webb. He was the proud grandfather of Brandon Cohen, Kevin Ware, Brianna Ware, India Webb, and Kaila Webb, and great grandfather of Melody Cohen. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A man of dedication and determination, George built a successful career as a self-employed painter and carpenter. He also served as a Longshoreman Supervisor and was a proud and committed member of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) for 49 years.
Beyond his work, George was deeply passionate about cooking, well-known for his famous fried fish, which was loved by family and friends alike.
George will always be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, generous heart, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him. His legacy of love, devotion, and family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
