

Geraldine “Gerrie” Mae Buzard died February 28, 2014. Born May 12, 1925 in Roystone, PA, the daughter of George H. and Cora E. Zerbe Ledebur, who preceded her in death. She married James M. Buzard in July of 1946. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She graduated from Clarion College, now Clarion University, in Clarion, PA, in 1946. She worked as a teacher and librarian. She later completed graduate work at the Univeristy of Arizona in the Area of the Visually Impaired.
Geraldine belonged to Tanque Verde Lutheran Church where she was active on the Library Committee. Charter member of the Tucson Area Chapter of the Lutheran Church Library Association and its first co-president and served later for another two terms. She also served 5 years on the Board of Directors of the National Church Library Association. A volunteer of 17 years at the Tanque Verde Lutheran Church library. She was a talented porcelain painter and avid reader. She compiled an extensive history of her maternal Grandmother’s family, and enjoyed tracing her family’s genealogy. She will be affectionately remembered by her grandchildren as “Nanny.”
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Coralyn “Lyn” Rose in 1986 and a sister Althea Webster. Survived by sons James Jr. and Edward. Daughters Candy (Dave) Mackin, Cindy Conn and the following grandchildren: Nicole (Mike) James, David Mackie, Stephanie Conn, Brittany Buzard, Lance Buzard and the following great grandchildren: Tyler, Shelby, Allison, Carson James, and Colton Hesser. A sister, Shirley Downing of VA. Also many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712 on Wednesday March 5, 2014 with Pastor Gayle Bintliff. A viewing will be held from 1pm-2pm. Service from 2pm-3pm.
In lieu of floral tributes it is suggested that donations may be made to the Tanque Verde Lutheran Church Library.
