Gregory John Burgess

Gregory J. Burgess, 51, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022, surrounded by his family. Greg was born June 03,1971 in Milwaukee, WI to Jack and Dianne Burgess, the fourth of four sons. His family relocated to Tucson in 1973 where Greg attended Reynolds Elementary, Carson Middle and Santa Rita High Schools. He proudly served his country for over 10 years in the US Army and Army Reserves as a flight and combat medic. While in the reserves he worked as a Certified Nurses Aide for 2 years. Greg became interested in law enforcement and joined the US Marine Corp becoming a military police officer, accident investigator, certified instructor and obtained an Associates Degree, majoring in criminal justice. He was honorably discharged in 2002 and moved back to Tucson to accept a position with The Town of Oro Valley as a Peace Officer where he served for 17 years. Greg was a Motor Officer for 10 years, became a certified Phlebotomist for DUI patrols/checkpoints, member of the SWAT Team, and worked with multiple law enforcement agencies. In his free time, Greg enjoyed spending time with family, cooking on the grill, doing water sports, boating, and camping. He also enjoyed coaching his daughters’ soccer teams, working in his garage, and building and flying RC planes and helicopters. His compassion and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceded in death by grandparents Willard and Ruth Klukas, Jack and Lucy Burgess, aunts Joan and Barbara(Don) Steinman, and brother Jeff Burgess. Greg is survived by two daughters, grandmother Mary Klukas, parents Jack and Dianne, brothers Tim and Daniel(Krista), sister-in-law Cathy, uncle David(Kathy), aunt Bonnie(Gary) McMullen, nieces Sabrina(Kyle) Riley, Katelin, Jacquelin, Aubry, Kaia, and many cousins.

Services will be held Friday July 15th, 2022 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary and Cemetery, 5801 E Grant Rd, 520-885-6741 with VISITATION 1PM-2PM and FUNERAL SERVICE 2PM-3PM and a Memorial reception at 3:30PM Christ Community Church, 530 S Pantano Rd. Light lunch will be served
