Greg was a classmate at the academy, IOBTC Class 68.  Most of my interaction at the Academy with Greg was in Spanish.  We were in the "native speaker" class together.  I have no idea why I was there, but Greg had studied Spanish academically for something like seven years.  However, he could barely speak it.  He stuttered a bit in English.  It was much worse in Spanish, to the point of preventing him from ever completing the same sentence in Spanish he started.

He also couldn't shoot.  One day I saw him walking back to his room from remedial firearms training, and he was carrying these two huge brown paper bags.  I offered to drive him back to his room.  After he got into the car I asked what was in the bags.  They were both full of beer.  Essentially he had been carrying a case of beer back to his room, fortunately after he had finished his remedial firearms training.  I asked him why so much, and I'll never forget his response, "Don't you ever feel like you just don't have enough beer in your system?"

He also told me his father's advice on how to buy a used car.  Read the obituaries, and look for estate sales, especially in Sun City, Arizona and similar places.  His dad, an IRS agent, told him the old people there buy big cars, hardly drive them anywhere, so they are usually well maintained and low mileage.

Wherever Greg is, I hope he has enough beer in his system. 

This is the first that I have heard of Greg's passing.  I worked with him in Los Angeles. The world is a little poorer place for his absence.  May God keep him close. 


My condolences to Greg’s family and friends. I worked with Greg through the 1990’s in Los Angeles, CA. I remember how he would walk around his car to inspect for dents and look under his car to look for oil leaks before getting inside. Then he would remove the brake and steering wheel locks before driving away.

I remember Gregory on the processing floor in L.A.  He was always ready to help us in Detention if we needed something from INV. R.I.P., End of Watch.

I worked with Greg in Los Angeles as well and am truly disheartened to hear this news so late, sending my deepest condolences to his family.  He was a clever, funny and bright man.  He made time there memorable.  He is missed and thought of in a very positive light.     

Such sad news.  No one quite saw the world the way Greg did.  He was intelligent and educated, and always put a unique spin on life.  He was his own man, and I'll miss him.

I worked with Greg in Los Angeles during the early 1990s. Greg had a good sense of humor adding commentary to a given situation that always made the office an interesting place. RIP 

I just learned of Greg’s passing. I worked with him in LOS ANGELES for many years.       He was a friend and I am very sorry to hear of his passing.  My condolences to his family.
