Helen Dorgan

Helen Reta Dorgan, 89, of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on May 7, 2026. She was born on September 10, 1936, in Limestone, Maine, the daughter of Carl Hendricksen and Isabelle Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Dorgan; her son, John T. Dorgan; and her son, James M. Dorgan.

Helen worked as a dental hygienist prior to marrying the love of her life, John Dorgan. As a devoted military spouse, she traveled the world with her family before they settled in Tucson, Arizona in 1970 on Stella Road, where they raised their children. Helen enjoyed working alongside John in the garage, packaging sirens and beacons that were shipped all over the world. Her fondest memories were the moments she spent at home with her grandchildren.

Together, Helen and John raised five children.

She is survived by her daughters, Helyn Dorgan and Mary Ellen McBee, and her youngest son, Joseph Dorgan; six grandchildren—Katie, Becky, Rusty, Maegan, Candace, and Hannah; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at East Lawn Palms, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712.
