A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
Helen Deborah Maes Sauceda, age 61 of Tucson, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019. While her battle with Lung Cancer was short, she remained optimistic and resilient during her time at Banner University Medical Center. She was born to the late Louis and Evelyn Maes on November 1, 1958. A loving mother and homemaker, Helen was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, friends and neighbors, most especially over the holidays. Helen was a hard worker with an aspiration to always stay busy. She grew up in Las Animas, Colorado with 3 brothers, Gary, Fred and Orlando Maes. Additionally, she had two other sisters, RoseMarie Contreras and Ruby Maes. She practiced cosmetology for many years before she married the love of her life, Gilbert Sauceda, in 1986. The couple eventually moved to Tucson where they strived to begin a new life. Helen is survived by her children, Shmae (Denver, Colorado), Isaac and Isaiah Sauceda (Tucson, Arizona) who have been by her side like any loving child should. She has now joined her second daughter, Chante Sauceda, in Heaven as the family was unfortunate to lose Chante at birth in 1992. Helen requested for an intimate burial and funeral at the very same location in which Chante was buried in Tucson. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her final days. For those who have known Helen in her faithful journey with us, her graveside service will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery on Thursday, January 2nd 2020.
