

Henry O. Nuñez Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on January 30, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born in Tucson, AZ, on January 18, 1932, to Juan L. Nuñez and Manuela Ochoa. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Josephine (Josie) L. Nuñez; son Henry O. Nuñez Jr. (Mary); grandchildren Vanessa (Carlos) Nuñez, Henry Nuñez III, and Clarissa Nuñez; five great-grandchildren; sister Dolores Dominguez; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Henry was a proud graduate of Tucson High School and served in the United States Air Force from December 28, 1951, to August 15, 1956. He met his wife Josie in 1961, and they were married in 1964, beginning a lifelong partnership centered around love and family. After marriage, Henry pursued higher education, earning his Associate Degree in Management from Pima Community College in 1979, followed by a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 1987.
Henry worked for the City of Tucson for 33 years, retiring in 1991 as the Superintendent of the Streets Department. In retirement, he continued to serve his community by helping his wife operate Dos Palomas Adult Assisted Living Home.
A man of many talents, Henry was passionate about music from a young age, learning to play the guitar and sing with his brothers Oscar (El Mariachi) and Hector at local gatherings in the old pueblo. His love for music carried him into a role as a music minister within the Diocese of Tucson, where he played guitar and sang in various choirs, often performing with his wife Josie. Henry’s musical talents also brought joy to residents in nursing homes, where he entertained with his voice and guitar. He was an avid dancer, especially enjoying the sounds of his favorite orchestra, led by Director Miguel Diaz.
Henry was a proud member of several organizations, including the Third Degree Knight of Council 1200, Saguaro VFW, and the Marine Corps Club.
Henry's devotion to his family, faith, and community left a lasting impact, and his legacy will be forever cherished by those who knew him.
