

It is with great sadness that the family of Ionia Mae Geeting Sipe announces her passing on Friday, August 31, 2018, at the age of 84 years. Ionia will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Arlie and their children, Dennis (Karen) Sipe, Jerry (Karen) Sipe, James (Dawna) Sipe, and Melinda (Greg) Eslinger. Ionia will also be fondly remembered by her nine grandchildren, Amie, Julie, Dennis, Jamie, Timothy, Ryan, Kira, Austin, Andrew and her 17 great- grandchildren.
Ionia was born November 13, 1933 in Eldorado, Ohio and was one of 12 children ( 6 boys and 6 girls) born to George S Geeting and Ruth Alma Henderson-Geeting. Ionia married Arlie Ervine Sipe January 9, 1953 in Tucson, AZ and together happily married for 65 loving years. A visitation for Ionia will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 East Grant Rd. A funeral service will follow at 9:30 and graveside burial at 10:30.
Ionia graduated from Amphitheater High School in 1952 and spent the majority of her professional working career in accounting. She was known as an exceptional seamstress with a large client list, talents of which to her credit was accomplishing 18 spectacular wedding dresses over the years. She was active in the church over the span of her lifetime volunteering her time and many talents while developing strong friendships. Ionia and Arlie spent 5 years volunteering for the True Foundation Organization building houses and 5 years as campground hosts in Lakeside, AZ. Her hobbies included boating vacations with friends and family, quilting, sewing and church activities. Ionia loved her family more than life and cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with immense love.
