Irene S Montoya, age 96, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on September 13, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born May 28, 1930, in Tubac, Arizona, Irene carried her roots with quiet pride throughout a long life marked by steady devotion, deep love, and a generous spirit that made others feel cared for and supported.

Irene graduated from Tubac School. On July 14, 1948, she married Quirino M. Montoya, the love of her life, and together they built a family anchored by loyalty, tenderness, and enduring commitment.

Those who knew Irene will remember the warmth of her presence and the way she gave of herself—thoughtfully, consistently, and without hesitation. Her joy was often found in simple, meaningful moments: camping and traveling, cooking and dancing, and especially spending time with family at the Ranch—places and traditions where her love was most clearly felt.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Quirino M. Montoya; her parents, Manuel & Maria Solares; her sisters, Mercedes, Carmen, Rosa, and Ofelia; and her brothers, Jesus, Manuel Jr., Jose, and Pete.

Irene is survived by her children, Dolores Montoya, Quirino Jr. Montoya (Mona), Diane Montoya (Edward Nanez), Henry Montoya (Dolores), and Vicky Harvey (Robert); by her 6 grandchildren; by her 13 great grandchildren; and her 5 great great grandchildren.

She will be remembered forever and fondly missed.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706, on September 21, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be held at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706, on September 21, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1220 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713, on September 22, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Graveside Service will be held at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706, on September 22, 2026, from 11:15 am to 11:45 am.
