Irene Samaniego, lovingly known as “Nana,” was born on October 16, 1947, in Casa Grande, Arizona, and passed away on October 10, 2026. She was raised in Tucson, Arizona, where she spent her life working hard and caring for others. A dedicated and hardworking woman, Irene held many jobs throughout her life, including working as a caregiver. She was always the first to arrive and the last to leave, never hesitating to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Though she was not always one to say much, her family knew they could always count on her. She spoke her mind honestly and openly, and her love was shown through her actions, her loyalty, and her unwavering presence.
Faith and family were at the heart of Irene’s life. She was the backbone of her family, living simply but finding happiness in the things that mattered most. She wanted those around her to be happy and gave of herself without expecting anything in return.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Bernardo and Margarita Samaniego; her brother, Manuel Samaniego; and her son, Louie Espinosa, and his wife, Joyce. She is survived by her siblings, Frank Samaniego and his wife, Sandy; Mary Samaniego; and Richard Samaniego; her grandson, Justin Espinosa, and his wife, Keira; and her great-grandson, Justyn “JJ.”
Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the strength she shared, and the memories she leaves behind will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her family will carry her legacy forward by remembering the simple but powerful ways she showed up for the people she loved.
