Isabelle Suzy Ross, known to all as Sue, passed away peacefully. She was born on January 31, 1957, in Orleans, France, to Don and Denise Ross. As the daughter of a career Army soldier, Sue spent her childhood moving between Europe and the United States alongside her three siblings, with stops that took the family from Washington to Germany to Kentucky to San Francisco. It was in San Francisco that she developed a lifelong love of the 49ers. She graduated high school at Monroe Catholic High School in Fairbanks, Alaska, before the family finally settled in Tucson in 1978.
Sue went on to build a 30-year career in banking, working at First Interstate, Arizona Bank, and Harris Bank. But it was her family and friends that truly defined her life. She cherished every moment spent with her daughter, parents, brothers, sister, and their families, and she often said her favorite roles in life were grandmother and aunt. She traveled regularly to Norway to visit her daughter and family, and took great joy in watching her grandson Aleksander compete in motorsports. A devoted Arizona Wildcats fan, Sue loved cheering for football and basketball teams alike, and never missed a chance to meet up with friends, share a laugh, and enjoy each other’s company.
Sue is survived by her daughter Christina (John) Johansen; grandson Aleksander Johansen; her mother, Denise Ross; her brother Rick (Sherry) Ross; her brother Donald Ross Jr.; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Don Ross, and her sister, Corinne Ross.
A service will be held at 10:00 AM on September 10 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Gospel Rescue Mission.
