Jack Carlton Roberts, son of Frank C. and Cora G. Winterer. Roberts, born in Jolley, Iowa March 12, 1921. Attended school in Jolley, Iowa and graduated from Jolley High School in 1938. Went to work in a blacksmith shop with his dad in Jolley, Iowa. Joined See Bees October 1942 boot camp in Virginia. Served overseas for 27 months 15 days in Guadalcanal, Manus, Manilla and Emirau. After discharge he went into business in the blacksmith shop with his dad in Jolley. June 4, 1947 he married Naverette Heebner Lindstrom in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Two children were born, Roberta, October 29, 1948 and Frank, February 27, 1952. Jack's dad passed away August 5, 1959. Jack sold the blacksmith shop and moved to Tucson, Arizona June 20, 1960. He worked for PanAm for 4 years and then got hired as a welder for Anaconda mine. They moved to Sahuarita, Arizona December 1968. Jack worked 17 and 1/2 years for the mine (Anamax) retiring April 3, 1983. They lived in Sahuarita 30 years moving back to Tucson July 1998 because of health reasons. He joined American Legion in Pomeroy Iowa, 1948 and since has been a member of Green Valley American Legion-57 year member. He enjoyed trips in his RV, camping, hunting and fishing.
