James Barley

Born in Deming, NM in 1917 to Alon and Isabel Barley, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 17, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alon and Isabel Barley, his brothers Leonardo Alon and Fred, his sister Maria Elena Ramirez, and his wife of 51 years, Ana Maria. He is survived by his nine children: James (Geraldine), Aurora, Fred, Laura Fernandez (Ron), Lilia (Dennis Hutchinson), Anthony (Robin), Patricia, Celina Venne (Andrew), Mary Ellen, 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews. He was a humble man who proudly served his country in the US Army in Europe during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star among other medals and decorations.

He retired from Civil Service after more than 20 years of service. During his lifetime he also owned several businesses both in Mexico and the US.

We would like to offer our special thanks to the staff and volunteers of TMC Hospice and to the volunteers of the TMC Hospice Veterans Program for the care and support given to our father and our family. We would also like to thank the DMAFB service members for the special tribute paid to our father for his service to this country.
