Janet was a gem. 
I met Janet almost 7 years ago now when I was living in Arizona. I would visit her once a week at her apartment. She was my dear friend. She loved to catch me up on the most recent audiobooks she was listening to and was never without a book recommendation. 
She taught me a lot about the visually impaired. She told me many stories about her work with the blind, how her father's blindness impacted her life, how she met her husband while working for the visually impaired organization. She was wildly proud of her husbands music career and their love story was complex and beautiful. 

She was a no nonsense kind of lady. She was proud of her heritage. She was a good friend to me. I only lived in Tucson for 9 months, but Janet made a lasting impact. We kept up over the years, but sadly I lost contact with her two years ago. I am so grieved to find we've lost another good soul here on earth. 

Janet, till we meet again...
