Janice Kay Dickman, 68, passed away peacefully in her home on March 4, 2021 after fighting a long battle with her health, surrounded by her loving family. Jan was born on July 1st, 1952 to Genevieve and Emmett Liddicoat in Madison, Wisconsin as the youngest of three children. She began her career in the meat cutting industry by working for her father where she learned all of the ins and outs of the profession. Jan then married Richard Dickman and soon relocated to Tucson, Arizona with her four kids: David, Daniel, Jeffrey, and Jillian Dickman. In Tucson, Jan began her own business and focused her time on becoming a successful business owner. She soon remarried to Hashim Mahdi and had two additional children, Neda and Jenna Mahdi. After taking a leave from the business, Jan came back to Tucson and continued to grow the business, becoming successful enough to build a second location. She then remarried, to Brian Moore.
Jan was a kind, strong, and hard-working person, but was also known for her sarcastic and clever personality. Though she could be tough, Jan was always more than willing to help out her friends, family, and employees when they needed it most. She consistently gave what she could without asking for return , showing her true selfless character. Jan loved keeping her mind sharp, completing Sudoku puzzles and word games with some of her free time. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, Bella and watching Gunsmoke with her friend and neighbor, Glynis Harlow. Jan’s all-time favorite pastime, though, was getting her kids together in order to teach and eventually watch them cook and coordinate traditional meals to be enjoyed as a family.
Jan leaves behind five of her children and their respective partners: Dan Dickman and Andrea Ortiz, Jeff Dickman and Leslie Chartier, Jillian and Sean Casey, Neda Mahdi and Aaron Carrillo, and Jenna Mahdi and Christopher Tursi of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by her sister Judy Nowlen of Tucson, AZ, her brother David Liddicoat (Jeanne Humphrey) of Merrimac, Wisconsin; her 4 grandchildren: Aayden Dickman of Appleton, Wisconsin, Jayci and Jackson Dickman of Tucson, AZ, and Margaret Casey of Tucson, AZ; her former husband Richard Dickman; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and employees.
Jan was preceded in death by her son, David Dickman, her parents, Genevieve and Emmett Dickman, her husband, Brian Moore, her former husband, Hashim Mahdi, and her brother-in-law Dale Nowlen.
The family is grateful for all the support and kind words that have been given. There will not be a service, as was the wish of Janice Dickman, however a celebration of life will be taking place in the next coming weeks, to be determined.
