Jean Voigtman entered eternity to be with her Savior on September 18, 2013. She was surrounded by her loving husband of nearly 62 years, her four children, sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, two of her grandchildren and her pastor. Jean is survived by her husband Paul; her brother Robert Post of Anacortes, Washington; her four children and their spouses, Janet Voigtman (Jerry Korf), Nancy Haase (David), Betty Garcia (Jesus), and Eric Voigtman (Ellen); along with her six grandchildren, Carmen Garcia, Jennifer Haase Mabry, Jeremy Haase, Daniel Garcia, Hannah Voigtman and Isaiah Voigtman; as well as four great-grandchildren, Emily and Katelyn Mabry, and Lily and Rosabelle Haase and her dog Buddy. Jean was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Post, her mother, Dorothy Post, and her sister, Betty Register.
Jean was born in Snoqualmie Falls, Washington on July 18, 1929. Married to Paul on October 12, 1951, they began their family while Paul was on active duty in the U.S. Air Force. Jean and the family traveled abroad and lived in Spain for three years while the girls were young. They moved back to the States after the birth of their son and lived four years in Omaha, Nebraska before settling in Tucson, Arizona. After retirement, Jean and Paul, with help from their family, built a summer home in Overgaard, Arizona. They later moved to Phoenix and spent their summers in the White Mountains. Jean’s faith was the foundation of her life and taking care of her family, including her grandchildren was her ministry. While in Tucson, Jean was active at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, where for 30 years she volunteered in a nursing home ministry at Devon Gables Heath Care Center, as well as taught Sunday School. Jean and Paul planted Faith Lutheran Church in Overgaard in 1993.
Like her mother before her, Jean had a lifetime love of painting. Her oil and toll painting projects adorn the homes of her family and many friends. Some of her other hobbies included sewing and creating miniature scenes. Jean and Paul enjoyed many trips in their RV around the United States.
