

Jean B. Wilkins, age 85, of Tucson, Arizona passed away October 7, 2015 surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born on February 8, 1930 in Grundy, Virginia and moved to Tucson in 1948. Jean was employed by the City of Tucson in 1948 and worked at the Police Department for 25 years before transferring to the Budget and Research Department where she was the Assistant Director of the Department. Upon her retirement in 1989 she was hired by Mayor and Council as Consultant to City Court. Subsequently, she worked as an aide to Council Member Roger Sedlmayr. She was active in the community serving for 32 years on the Board of the Department of public safety. She also served on the Board of Directors of Tucson Old Pueblo Credit Union, where she was recognized nationally as the director of the year twice. Jean filled every position at some point in time on the CTRA (City of Tucson Retirees Association Board) in the past 20 plus years. Jean was one of the first recipients of the Pioneer Women’s Award in 2013 to recognize her efforts in women’s equality in the workplace. She is survived by daughter, Debbie Dillon (Larry), grandsons Ryan, Derek, and Trevor Dillon all of California; Sister Betty Weinsheimer; niece Kimberly Smith and nephew Christopher Weinsheimer of Florida. Funeral arrangements will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 13th at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, Arizona. Interment to immediately follow at East Lawn.
