OBITUARY

Jefferey Lee Elwood

March 3, 1959November 21, 2021

Jefferey Lee Elwood passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2021, at the age 62. He was born March 3rd, 1959 in Minot, ND. He was a graduate of Trevor Browne H.S., Phoenix, AZ. He joined the Air Force after H.S. graduation and spent time in England during his service. He had many careers during his life including, Phoenix City Bus Driver, Maricopa County Corrections Officer, Glendale Police Officer and Detective, and most recently General Manager for LKQ Automotive in Tucson.

Jeff is preceded in death by his Father James, his brother Jimmy, late wives Renee and Belinda, step-son Seth, and daughter-in-law Mary.

Jeff was larger than life. He literally never met a stranger and was always ready with a smile. He would only see the good in people and said that life is too short to hold grudges or live with any anger or bitterness. "We have the power to forgive and let go." You know if you ever had a bad day you could talk to Jeff and you’d leave with a smile. Jeff had a gift of making people laugh with his quirky personality and sense of humor.

Jeff’s passions were his family, golfing, corn hole/darts/ping pong (most all sports...) and he excelled at all.

Jeff leaves his wife Theresa. They were very much in love and completed each other, their short time together has been like a lifetime of unconditional Love. They were a perfect fit and created so many wonderful memories with each other and their families. He also leaves his children Jenna, Jesse, Sarah, Austin, Blake & Melissa. His Grandchildren Jessa, Jazmine, Oakley, Cierra, Orlando & Braiden. His Mother Linda, siblings and in-laws, Jerry & Sheryl, Jay & Kathleen, Jenelle and Jay & Joey. Many nieces, nephews, and a countless amount of friends whose lives he touched.

We were total political opposites, but we always agreed to disagree out of friendship and mutual respect.

He was one of my favorite officers at GPD. When we worked undercover and a bad guy ran, we'd "release" "Rocketman" and he'd always make the catch. His personality and sense of humor made him a pleasure to work with.

I'll miss him terribly. 😢🙏

Jeff was one of the best friend you could ask for. We shared many good times in SEU. Breaks my heart so see him gone so soon. My condolences to his family and many lives he touched. I will miss him.

I was devastated by this news. I met Jeff in his younger days, late 80s, I think. I was the maid of honor at his wedding to Belinda and I recall all of us living in a 2-bedroom apartment when they first got married. On weekends, Jenna and Jesse would come visit (yes, they were small then) and Jeff and I would fight over how many towels you should use in a week! Ha Ha! I won. He once took me in the police car and he got a call for a domestic dispute - I was like, WOW you have to deal with this crap on a regular basis. I have many stories about the old days. We lost touch due to moving around and life changes. We reconnected on Facebook a few years ago and had many political debates, but always came back to we'll be friends regardless of views. Didn't have cell phones back then so I will go through my photo albums and see if I can find a picture of him in his younger days. I just have no words as this was a complete shock to me. I want Theresa to know that Jeff was happy, he looked so happy, and I am glad that he found you later in life. You both looked like you enjoyed life to the fullest. My deepest sympathy to you, his children and Grandchildren. He will be dearly missed but I will think of him often. Love, prayers, hugs. Liz (Dormann) Haskins.
