Jennie Marie Kavathas

She is survived by her three children, Eva Valencia (Ed), Debbie Higuera (Ernie), and Nick Kavathas. Along with Russell and daughter, Samantha Gilmore, who she considered part of the family.

Her grandchildren, Mark (Francene), Adam (Maria), Ernest (Tina), Meaghan (Frankie), Nicholas (Shahrazad) and Carson (Noah).

Her great grandchildren, Markie, Gracie, Vincent, Apollo, Carlos, Arena and Cali.

One of the family's most cherished memories will be the gentle blessing traced on our foreheads as we would say goodbye. It was a final act of protection that stayed with us until we saw her again. if you knew her, you heard her famous response to everything, "If God's Willing."

She had a deep affection for the ocean which brought her peace and would be her forever home as a California girl. Her love for music and dance came from listening and dancing to Big Band music, like Glenn MIller, with the love of her life Nick, whom she was married to for 68 years.

She will always be remembered for her special fruitcakes at Christmas time, the crocheted blankets made with love for all of us and so much more. We will always cherish our time with her forever.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Azucena, her caregiver for the past four years. The two shared a special bond - they were companions, dance partners and friends. Azucena's love and dedication allowed mom to maintain her spark and dignity until the very end.
