Joan Elaine Bernal

Joni was born in Canton, Ohio, to Maurice E. Foltz and Marian E. Deeb (née Kroh). She spent her early years in Ohio before later making her home in Arizona. One of Joni's favorite pastimes was playing Euchre with her friends, a tradition she greatly enjoyed and looked forward to each week. She was known to be quite competitive at the card table, bringing both skill and a playful spirit to the game. She also cherished time spent in the kitchen, especially during the holidays, where her Christmas sugar cookie baking and homemade noodle traditions brought family together year after year.

She is survived by her sons, Peter Bernal (Karla) and Michael Bernal (Brenda); her beloved grandchildren, Alexis (Nathan), Daniela, Nicolas, Adrian, and Gabriel; Jeremy, whom she loved as an honorary grandson; and her great-grandchildren, Noah and Lorenzo. She is also survived by her brother, John Deeb.

Joni was preceded in death by her sister, Denise Neal, and her parents.

Joni's greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Tucson Firefighters Association Hall, located at 2430 N. Huachuca Dr., Tucson, AZ 85745, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
