Joan E. Dahlquist Hourscht Layton, passed away on January 4, 2015. She was born in Slayton, Minnesota on January 5, 1927 to Edith and Oscar Dahlquist. Preceased by brothers Donald and Duane Dahlquist and sisters Betty Mattie and Esther Moffitt, husband Lester Hourscht and Otis Layton, and grandson Jacob Hourscht. She is survived by her children, Mary (Lorry) Quihuis, Muriel (Tim) Wieland, Marcia (Bill) Damewood, Randy (Hertha), Rick (Loretta), and Bob Hourscht. She is also survived by her brother Doug and sister Marge, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great -great grandchildren. Joan moved to Tucson in 1953 and with Les started Irvington Laundry, which she ran for over 20 years. In 1973 she married Otis and they traveled the U.S. in their motor home. She was very proud of her sewing and patching for Cleveland Indians, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Soxs and many minor league teams. The Rockies dubbed her "the Betsy Ross of Spring Training." She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling with the Desert Pueblo league. She will be missed by ALL! A memorial service will be held on Friday January 16, 2015 12:30pm at Funeraria Del Angel 7 E. University Blvd. Celebration of life to follow at Archer Center 1665 S La Cholla Blvd.
