Joaquina Zozaya Cañedo, “Anita”, age 86, formerly of Tucson, Arizona passed away Sunday, February 22, 2022. She was born on November 3, 1935 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico and raised mostly in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. She married her husband, Jesus Cañedo Guerrero, when she was only 18 years old and became stepmother to five daughters and went on to have 6 daughters and 8 sons of her own. She immigrated to Wilmington, California with her husband and children as a young adult and arrived to Tucson, Arizona in the late 70’s. She was a homemaker her whole life and took the time to care of others as she was also a foster parent to 7 additional children. A natural entrepreneur, her dream was always to have a business of her own to pass down to her children. Over the course of many years she dabbled in many industries, including elderly care, second-hand resale, and a piñata store. She loved small birds, porcelain roses, and antique furniture. Her favorite colors were yellow and pink. She lived surrounded by her loved ones and ultimately became the grandmother to 50 children.
