John was the third of four sons born to LeCompte J. and Helen (nee Horan) Bordenave in Chicago, IL.
Upon completion of his military service John earned his BA and MA at Western Illinois University. He taught high school History and Government in suburban Chicago and Nogales, AZ. Always interested on politics, the environment, gardening and reaching out to those in need. John lived his life to be as an example of his beliefs. He taught his students to value everyone and to do good works.
One of his proudest achievements was as a member of the Illinois Governor's Commission to pass Title IX.
Upon retirement to Arizona, John became immersed in the study of the history and culture of the Borderlands His volunteer service included Desert Conservation, Friends of Tucson's Birthplace and Rancho Chuk Shon. Most important was John's dedication to Project PPEP. He served proudly as a Board Member for over twenty years.
John's optimism, ready smile, compassion and willingness to offer a helping hand will be missed.
John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty. He is also survived by his brother Robert, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son, Thomas, and brothers Joseph and George.
