Josefina was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Miguel Gutierrez, and by her brothers, Raul and Jose Gutierrez. She is survived by her son, Jesus Gomez (Anna); her daughter, Maria Lucina Chavira (Jorge); her grandchildren, Georgie, Daniel, Eddie, Tony, and Miguel; her great grandson, Lalo; her sister, Lucy Moreno; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A woman of steady strength and determined spirit, Josefina met life with hard work, a giving heart, and a deep sense of devotion to those she loved. Family meant everything to her, and her grandchildren were especially dear—held close with the kind of selfless care that made others feel supported, welcomed, and truly at home. Even in the midst of daily responsibilities, she carried a warm humor that could lighten a room and remind everyone not to take life too heavily.
Josefina found joy in the simple, faithful rhythms of home. She loved sewing and cooking, and she took pride in mending clothing with patient hands and careful attention. In her kitchen, generosity was never in short supply, she loved feeding people, and her meals were remembered not only for their flavor, but for the love behind them. Burritos, quesadillas, and chile con carne were among the favorites, and there was always beans on the stove. She also loved mariachi music, especially Vicente Fernandez, and she cherished her cafecito—small comforts that brought daily happiness and shared moments of connection.
Josefina will be remembered as beloved—strong-willed, selfless, and giving—someone whose care was shown through what she did each day, and whose presence made family life richer, warmer, and more whole.

A Graveside Service will be held at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706, US, on October 22, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
