

Kathy Alice (Rozema) Simmons, age 81, passed away on March 29, 2025 in Tucson, Arizona. Born on Oct. 22, 1943 in Torrington, Wyoming, Kathy lived a life marked by compassion, resilience and deep devotion to her family and faith.
Raised by Harry and Bessie Rozema, Kathy's early years were shaped by the strong foundation of her church community. This spiritual grounding remained a cornerstone throughout her life, fostering many lifelong friendships and guiding her through every chapter of her life.
Kathy pursued her calling in healthcare by attending Weber State College in Ogden, UT. She studied nursing and became a registered nurse. Her career spanned decades and took her across the country. She served in the emergency room in San Francisco, worked alongside Dr. Isaac in his family practice in Soldotna, Alaska, worked as a home health nurse on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and transitioned into medical transcription. Kathy brought empathy and professionalism to each role and touched countless lives.
In 1968 Kathy married Lloyd Simmons. This began a partnership that spanned 57 years. Together they raised four sons; Lloyd, Scott (Holly), Mark (Jody Washburn) and Trent (Barbara Galliker). Her love for her family was boundless. Whether preparing meals for large gatherings or embarking on outdoor adventures with her boys Kathy embraced motherhood with warmth and determination.
Kathy found joy in many pursuits; cooking for family and friends, tending to her garden, playing ragtime and hymns on the piano, knitting and weaving to name a few.
Kathy was also a proud grandmother to three grandsons; Quinn, Colby and Trent, each of whom brought immense joy into her life. She cherished time with them and celebrated their milestones with pride.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Lois Patterson and brothers, Mel and Don Rozema.
