Kathy was born on July 20,1921 in Zenda, Kansas and passed away on June 28, 2019 in Tucson, Arizona, just 23 days short of her 98th birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Hunter; step-mother, Claralyn Hunter; brother, John Hunter; husbands, John M. Carpenter and Edward Walters; and step-son Jeff Walters. She is survived by her son, John M. Carpenter, stepchildren Rochelle Valencia, Jim (Laura) Walters, Pat (Sue) Walters, Pam (Don) Sensky, Bill (Judy) Walters and Steve (Sandy) Walters, sister Diane (Jerry) Sheets, nieces Fawn Chichester, Becky (Wayne) Dorcas, Jenny (Wade) Gendreau, and Julie(Adam) Medlin. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Kathy worked for Amphitheater Unified School District No. 10 for over forty years as a bookkeeper and a human resource specialist. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Casas Church, where she sang in the Senior Choir. She was also a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood and a volunteer at Lulu Walker Elementary School, Amphi Clothing Bank, and Tohono Chul Botanical Gardens.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel – 7 E. University Blvd. – Tucson AZ 85705. A Mexican dinner will follow at a location to be announced. Internment will be private.
