

Preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A., and his parents, Kenneth I. and Agnes E. Dowse. He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth A. (Christopher) Sweeney and Catherine M. Dowse; grandchildren Scott Moler, Jane Moler, Thomas Miller, and Olivia Sweeney; sister, Shirley Schonebeck; several nephews; and many, many friends.
Kenneth was born November 22, 1940 in Springfield, Missouri. His family moved to Tucson in 1945 and lived at the Federal Prison on Mt. Lemmon where his father was the chief Medical Officer employed by the U.S. Dept. of Public Health. After moving to Brooklyn, NY, in 1953, and graduating from St. Francis Prep High School in 1958, Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1964. He met and married Margaret Klopfer in December 1963 and had 2 daughters. Ken went to work for New York Bell Telephone (aka AT&T) and eventually moved to Bay Shore, Long Island, NY to raise his family. Ken retired from AT&T as a National Account Service Manager in 1989, and moved back to Tucson with his wife in 1991. In 1993, Kenneth joined the American Legion Family at Post 36 in Tucson, AZ. Ken was an active, dedicated member of the American Legion, serving various positions including Post Commander and Dept. Commander. He was also inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame in October, 2019. He is so loved and will be incredibly missed by many.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel South Lawn, 5401 S. Park Avenue, Tucson, AZ. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. On Wednesday, April 20 A Visitation starting from 10:00am to 11:00 am. Funeral Service starting at 11:00am to 12:00 pm. Burial to follow at South Lawn Cemetary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Legion Post #36, 5845 E. 22nd St., Tucson, AZ 85711 in honor of Kenneth.
