In the early 1940s, Kenneth moved from Sacramento, California to Tucson, Az. with his parents Earl John Mullikin and Ruth Erma (Harris) Mullikin where they built one of the first homes on Liberty Ave. in South Tucson. At that time, Kenneth was about 5 years of age. He attended Hollinger Elementary School, Wakefield Jr. High School, graduating from Tucson High School in 1955. He then went on to attend the University of Az. for two semesters later deciding to join the Carpenters Union and pursue a career in Carpentry.
Kenneth was baptized into the United Methodist faith as an infant and, as a child, attended St. John’s United Methodist Church with his mother. In his young twenties, Kenneth attended Pueblo Gardens United Methodist Church where he volunteered as one of their youth group leaders as well as contributing to repairs, expansions, and maintenance of the church and grounds. After moving from Kaibab Vista to Linden Place, he began attending Christ United Methodist Church for many years and, for a time, served as the on- site maintenance man. Later, he began attending Faith Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church with his son where he was baptized as an adult in Jesus name by elder Brother Connor.
Unfortunately, Kenneth suffered from various illnesses that prevented him from working consistently and past his late 60s. Additionally, he incurred debilitating injuries from an automobile accident leaving him in need of daily care and rehabilitation. Kenneth spent the latter years in the competent, compassionate care of Park Ave. Health & Rehabilitation to whom we are very grateful. It was their care, in addition to the oversight of the Az. Public Fiduciary’s caseworkers, lawyers and staff, to mention a few, that Kenneth enjoyed a good quality of life, living to the ripe old age of 78. To all of you who worked with the family over the many years, during the stressful and difficult times, and through this loss…we say “Thank You!”
Kenneth Earl Mullikin passed peacefully & quietly from this life on October 16, 2014 at Park Ave. Health & Rehabilitation under the kind care of hospice and nursing staff. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Jean (Mullikin) Cavanagh (fiancé Danny Stroup) and his son, John Kenneth Mullikin (spouse Kim), twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
“Dad, you will be missed.
Love,
Your son and family!”
