Kim Charles (K.C.) Hamilton, age 69, born on March 22, 1956, passed away on July 17, 2025. He was a life-long resident of Tucson. He graduated from Catalina High School in 1974, and also attended the University of Arizona. He is survived by his mother Patricia Hamilton, brothers Bill (Sylvia) and Patrick (Monica), daughter Crystal, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife Karen and his father Keith Carl (K.C.) Hamilton.
A talented musician, he played the tuba and sousaphone in high school and college, where was the 1st chair in the All-State band. Kim performed with the Catalina High School band in a prestigious competition in Vienna, Austria where they played the 1812 Overture with the accompaniment of live cannons. So gifted was he that he could play Flight of the Bumblebee on a tuba as fast and precise as anyone possibly could.
He was on the swim team at Catalina Terrace and liked to see how far he could swim underwater without taking a breath (close to 50 yards). He also enjoyed hang gliding off Sentinel Peak.
Growing up, most summer days were spent either at the pool, camping in the White Mountains, floating the Gila River, water skiing on Saguaro Lake, or on family vacations visiting national parks throughout the west on the way to/from visiting his many relatives in Wisconsin.
He loved animals and had many pets, including Catalina (cat) and Thor (raven). He volunteered his time for many years at local animal rescue organizations.
Kim was an avid science fiction fan, and he always loved conversation. He approached most conversations with an open mind. He was always interested in telling you about his latest ideas, and wasn’t afraid to make you think. There was always an interesting mix of science fiction in his life, and for this, and for everything else, he will always be remembered!
