

Lamar Davis 79, Went home to be with his Lord on Monday June 26, 2017. Lamar was born February, 3, 1938 in Morton Mississippi to James Davis Norris and Ossie Davis. He later moved to McNary, AZ then to Holbrook, AZ with his Family. There he met and married Norma Conway, with whom he had three children, two daughters and a son. That union lasted for 13 years.
Lamar answered his calling to the ministry in his late teens. Lamar received his Preacher’s License as a member of St John’s Baptist Church (old) of Holbrook, AZ under the guidance of Reverend Luther Clayton on May 3, 1959. Lamar loved the Lord and his calling. During his life he was affiliated with several churches. From an early age, his relationship with God was strongly existent and his faith in him was everlasting.
Lamar was an accomplished guitar and harmonica player and he played for several churches. He often played his guitar in his spare time, sometimes until the early hours of the morning.
Lamar was employed at Valley National Bank in Holbrook, AZ as a Maintenance Technician. Lamar later moved to Tucson, AZ where he continued his employment with Valley National Bank as a Maintenance Manager and was employed there until his retirement in 2002.
Lamar was a wonderful, loving father and a humble, kind and giving person. He was always willing to help anyone. If you needed something fixed, he would fix it. If you needed advise he would give it. If you needed a ride, he would take you. He never asked for anything in return. Lamar had a smile that was warm, friendly and infectious. Lamar was loved greatly and will be missed deeply by many.
Lamar was preceded in death by James Davis Norris (father), Ossie Davis (mother), Lisa Davis (daughter), Willie J. Davis (brother), Jimmie L. Davis (brother), Freddie B. Davis (brother), O’Neal Davis (brother), Bennie Ray Davis (brother), John L. Davis (brother), Hershel Davis (brother), Bobbie Jean Davis (sister), Katie M. Woods Hargrow (sister) and Marguerite Anderson (sister).
Lamar leaves to cherish his memory; former spouse, Norma Glenn of Tucson, daughter, Brenda (Garey) Gill of Tucson, AZ; Son, Kevin Davis of Tucson, AZ; sister and last living sibling, E’vett Jackson-Hooks of Las Vegas, NV and his loving, long time companion, Joan Calhoun of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Tadarryl Smith, DeMario Smith, Brenton Varner, Ciara Gill and Cameron Gill, eight great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
