

Lela Mary Salecki, age 63, residing in Tucson, Arizona passed away unexpectedly on the evening of December 9, 2014. Lela was born in Laredo, Texas on January 24, 1951 to Lucy (Staggs) and Cecil Almand Jr.
Lela was joined in marriage to Richard Salecki on March 28, 1971 in Tucson, Arizona where she spent the rest of her life. Lela enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and could never get enough of them; she always wanted to make them happy as well as everyone else she came across. Lela spent a lot of good days swimming, spending time with her Bassett hounds and loved to go to yard sales and meet new people. She always had a story to share with everyone. She loved the way her husband would use his hands to talk and this would make her laugh. She enjoyed going to the casino and even enjoyed it more when she won.
Lela is survived by her husband Richard Salecki, her daughters Dianna (Danny) Soto, Susie (Calvin) Henry, grandchildren Joey Soto, Andrew Soto, Calvin Akia Henry IV, Eric Soto, Spyncer Henry, Ashley Soto, and Abbigale Henry. Lela is also survived by her siblings, Cecil Sonny Almand (Connie), Roland Almand (Mary), Tyrone Almand (Taeko), Gaynelle Blackshear (Robin), Debbie Almand, her brother-in-law Art Salecki and many nieces, nephews, nephews and cousins.
Lela is predeceased by her mother Lucy Staggs, her father Cecil Rhodes Almand Jr. her step-father Charlie Staggs, her father-in-law Fred Salecki, her mother-in-law Myrtle Salecki, her brother Darrell Almand, her brother-in-law Freddy Salecki, her nieces Patricia Almand and Shanna (Rice) Reyes.
Lela’s service will begin at 10:00am on December 16, 2014 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary at 5801 E. Grant Road Tucson, Arizona 85712. Services will be officiated by Elder Cynthia Henry, with six pallbearers including Daniel Soto, Calvin Henry III, Joey Soto, Andrew Soto, Calvin Akia Henry IV, and Eric Soto.
Visitation will begin at 10:00am, followed by the chapel service at 11:00am and concluding with the graveside burial service at 12:00pm. Immediately following the ceremony there will be a family and friend’s celebration of Lela’s life at her and Richard’s house.
