In World War II, Leora served in the Navy, where in noble service to her country she met the love of her life, Leo T. Graves. They were married, and had 37 happily wed years before Leo's passing. Leora, committed to their love, considered herself married to him still, and prior to her passing would have told anyone that she was married for 78 years.
Leora and Leo had five children; Ruth Cooper (Graves), Lindsey Albisani (Graves), Ernest L. Graves, Lloyd E. Graves, and Helen E. Roman (Graves). Leora is survived by many grandchildren: to Ruth Cooper, Stephen DeBeauchamp and Bryan Cooper-Sood; to Lindsay Albisani, Yukari Albisani and Eason Albisani; to Ernest Graves, Sarah Liquori, Mary Herman, Spencer Graves, and Claire Bartolomei; to Lloyd Graves, Logan Rodriquez Graves; and to Helen Roman, Kelly Roman and Kari Roman.

She traveled to Egypt, numerous European countries, Peru, Mexico, Canada and Alaska, New Zealand and Australia,Japan, Hong Kong and China to name a few.
Leora lived a life filled with love, and met each day with a glint of mischief in her eye. After her military service, she worked as a Financial Advisor, and an RN for many years. Her sense of duty and desire to help others never wavered, and she touched many lives over her long years. Of her many passions, hiking and travel were prominent, and she appreciated all she saw of the natural world, down to the smallest bug. She was a savvy investor, an avid collector of stamps, and an accomplished baker. She would make a cake for each and every birthday for those in her family, as sweet and abundant as her love for them. Leora loved life and cherished her family.
Leora is fondly remembered as a dedicated mother, and loyal friend. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all those who had the good fortune to know her.
