Always resilient, Leta Kay defied the odds as an infant, and despite early difficulties from a premature delivery, she was taken home by her parents, Dean and Alice Kloefkorn, to meet her big sister Kim. Little brother Scott would come along two years later.
Leta Kay moved with her family to Prescott, Arizona in 1968, where she attended Kuhne Day School, until an eventual move to Prescott Valley - then to Tucson, Arizona in 1976. In addition to completing her education at Howenstine High School, Leta Kay was active in many extra-curricular activities, such as her Civitan club and Special Olympics, winning many medals and eventually earning a spot at the International Special Olympics with her swim team.
Leta Kay relocated to Proctor, Oklahoma shortly after graduating high school. She lived there for several years and was very active with Proctor First Baptist Church. She moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in 2016 and eventually settled in Gilbert, Arizona.
Leta Kay was featured on a local Tucson news program as one of “Guy Atchley’s People” due to her many athletic and community accomplishments. She loved listening to music, particularly the Booth Brothers, who would eventually know her as a friend.
Because of her welcoming smile, quick wit, and endless charm, Leta Kay was a friend to all who met her. She was known for her kindness, sense of humor, fashion sense, and her “Doodles”. She loved all animals, especially horses and often volunteered at Wildhorse Ranch Rescue in Gilbert.
Leta Kay was preceded in death by her father, Dean Kloefkorn, many aunts and uncles, and several cousins. She is survived by her mother Alice Crawford, sister Kim (Gary) Branges, brother Scott (Predencia) Kloefkorn, nephew Dustin (Alana) Branges, niece Alyssa Kloefkorn, uncle Charles Scott, aunt Wanda Biggs, aunt Yvonne Kloefkorn, uncle Don Hilton, two great nephews, and many cousins.
