Lillian Thomas

Lillian Elizabeth Blackmon Treadwell Thomas entered eternal life on April 21, 2014 at the age of 93½ surrounded by family and friends. She was born December 18, 1920 in Wichita Falls, Texas, and was the youngest daughter of W.L. and Bessie Blackmon’s six children. Lillian was a strong, independent, and active woman, who spent most of her life in the Plainview and Lubbock, Texas area. She supported her three sons and herself with various jobs, including bank-telling and administrating driver’s licenses for the state of Texas. After retirement, she volunteered well into her eighties teaching computer literacy to other elders. In her spare time, Lillian enjoyed country line dancing and listening to the music of Elvis Presley and even saw him live in concert. Having a love for the arts, she collected many De Grazia and Thomas Kinkade works of art. Always well-dressed and fashionable, she enjoyed bright-colored outfits and turquoise jewelry and getting her hair and nails done. Lillian was a member of the First Christian Church but was home bound for the past three years and partook in her own religious studies every Sunday. For the past four years, Lillian lived in Tucson, Arizona, where she made new friends at her apartment building and enjoyed the desert landscape. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters and brothers, Martha Hood, Eloise Meredith, W. L. Blackmon, Jr., Addie Mae Stone, and James Blackmon; her first husband, James Britton Treadwell; her second son, Eugene Lee Treadwell; and her loving second husband, Robert Thomas. Her legacy continues through her loving children James Steven Treadwell (Kristine) and Larry Don Treadwell (Annette); five grandchildren, James Treadwell II, Shelley Flores, Christopher Treadwell, Katrina Nicholas, Kari Treadwell Ruehlen; six great grandchildren; and a host of relatives. A service and celebration of her life will be held at East Lawn Palms, 5801 East Grant Road, Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 9am. Donations to may be made in Lillian’s honor
