Louise Sproull Covert (North)

Louise Sproull North Covert died March 9, 2014 preceded in death by brother, Hugh Thomas Sproull of Rockwell TX, first husband Fred W. North, of Slippery Rock, Pa. and dear husband of 45 years, Wayne Lamont Covert. She is survived by dear daughter, Patricia Louise Covert Stein and son-in-law Murray Kent Stein; brothers, Dr. Robert Christley Sproull and wife Mary Margaret Moran Sproull of El Paso, TX and William Andrew Sproull of Oro Valley, Az. and stepdaughter, Jo Ann North Miller, Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born July 13, 1918 to Dr. Bert & Mrs. (Emma Allen) Sproull in Pittsburgh, Pa. She graduated from eighth grade in Fair Oaks, Pa. and high school in Chicora, Pa. where her father practiced dentistry. Her early summers were spent in Hendersonville, Pa. at the home of Rev. William & Elizabeth Henderson Allen. Her Aunt, Anna Allen; a high school teacher and college professor, spent summers there and was a wonderful influence during those years. She attended Bowling Green University and Muskingum College, working toward a Business degree and graduated from Butler Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Spang & Co, Butler, Pa. secretary to Registrar at Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock Pa., secretary to President of Hackett Engineering Co., Butler, Pa. and secretary to Assistant Manager of Montgomery Wards, Tucson, Az. Her first husband, Fred W North, District Manager West Penn Power, Slippery Rock, Pa. died in 1950. In 1952 she married a friend from Hendersonville, Pa., Wayne L Covert, whose wife had died. He was a Major Lt. the Air Force stationed in Tucson, after World War II. They were stationed in Tucson, AZ, Wichita, KS Statesboro, GA, and Albany, GA And Colorado Springs, CO. Wayne was promoted to Lt. Col. in Wichita and their daughter Patricia, was born there, April 30, 1959. They retired to Tucson in 1969. She was a member of OES, Saguaro Christian Church and MOAA. At Louise’s request, no memorial service will be held.
