I adored Yolanda. 

 I met Yolanda when I first began working as a school counselor in the Sunnyside School District.   She immediately took me under her wing, and gave me much kindness and support.  I am so grateful to her for the resources and wealth of information she passed on to me.  She was always there when I needed another counselor to talk to, and she was so patient.

My best memory of her is when she and I visited Sunnyside H.S. after a tragic event, and we had to talk to various students who came in for help.  Many of the students remembered Yolanda from elementary school, and they were so happy to see her again.  Yolanda was so good working with the students who were grieving.  She knew exactly what to say, and I could tell the students felt comfort in talking with her.  She was a wise and precious soul.  She will be missed dearly.

I first worked with Yolanda in 1988 when she was teaching Kinder at Santa Clara and I was a beginning psychologist.  Later we were both counselors at different Sunnyside schools and she was always encouraging, kind, full of great ideas and gave so much love to  students, staff and families.  I didn't hear of her passing until after the Funeral Mass but wanted to share my deep admiration for her and my condolences to her family and all who are missing her now.  Que en paz descanse

I was asked about a year ago if I had anyone in my life that I could go to with any problem, someone who would always be there for me no matter what. One person immediately came to mind, my amazing mother-in-law. She had always been there to help me. Even when I didn't deserve her love and support I knew that if I needed her, she would be there. My children and grandchildren could not have had a more loving and caring Nana. She has left a huge hole in all of our hearts. I am comforted in knowing that she is with her loved ones in the arms of Jesus her savior.


What an amazing woman Yolanda was!  I first met her over 20 years ago when I became a counselor in Sunnyside School District.  What would I have done without her help and encouragement?!  She was a great mentor and my go to person.  Her wealth of resources and wisdom have been lifesaving.  She was a great friend and colleague who will be missed more than I could ever express here.  My thoughts and prayers go out to her family whom I know she loved dearly as she always had a story she would proudly share with all she worked with.  You are in a good place my friend.  I hope you are relaxing and being much rewarded for all the selfless acts of love that changed hundreds upon hundreds of lives that you touched throughout your years of service.

My tears of loss.....so deep and so full  from losing my friend, Yolanda!!!!!   Yolanda came into my life back in 2012 when I first moved here to Tucson and was wondering if I would meet some really great friends.  I just had a hip replacement and I decided to join Desert Fitness off of Wrightstown Road.  The first day of water aerobics,  was when I met Yolanda!  'Hi! My name is Yolanda.  How are you? Welcome to water aerobics.  Is this your first class?"   Right then, I knew I had met a wonderful friend who became even closer to me than I could have ever imagined the first time I met her.   I could write a book about how special she was to anyone who ever knew her.   Yolanda!!!!  Thank you dearest friend.....you touched my life more than I ever had a chance to tell you and you are going to be missed more than you ever imagined!   I love you and I miss you!   Anne

I was sorry to hear of Yolanda’s death. She was such a gracious and sweet friend.  We enjoyed going to UA football games, dinner with friends, her New Years Eve parties, Super Bowl parties, and playing dominoes.  I was truly flattered when she invited me to join her and other friends in making tamales for the  Christmas holidays. And, the stories and laughter we shared made the work so much more fun!  She will be missed by her many friends. 

My memories of Yolanda go way back.......grade school high school and rooming at the U of  A.  I had't seen you in a very long time but you were once a part of my life. Rest in peace dear Yolanda

I was saddened to hear of Yolanda’s passing.  She was a close, dear friend during our high school years in Nogales, AZ.  She will forever remain in my fondest memories and in my heart.  She was a kind, warm generous person,  My deepest condolences to her family.

I was so saddened to hear of Yolanda's death.  I met her when she started working at Santa Clara Elementary and just recently as our hearing officer. She was a kind, gentle soul, and always with a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by all.  My deepest condolences to all her family. Rest in peace my dearest Yolanda.

I was so sorry to hear about Yolanda's death.  We were friends all four years of high school.  My deepest sympathy to all the members of her family.  She was such a neat person and I remember her fondly.
