Maria Sabalos

Maria Sabalos died peacefully at the age of 88 on January 3rd 2026 in Tucson AZ. She was born to Michael and Ourania Markou in Volos Greece April 4th 1937. Maria left Greece to attend college and immigrated to New York where she graduated and married Gregory Sabalos on June 26th 1960. Maria and Gregory moved to Tucson AZ where Maria raised her three children before she continued to dedicate her time to early childhood development by opening First Impressions Day Care and Learning Center in 1985, finally retiring in 2010 to spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed needlepoint and gardening attending to her roses and iris, lemons and figs. She is survived by her three children Liza Sabalos, Paulina (David) Lyons, Constantine (Kimberly) Sabalos, grandchildren Jason, Damian, David, Greg, Nick, Julian, Marcel and great grandchild Atlas.

Viewing will be at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712 on Friday January 9th 2026 from 5-8pm followed by funeral services on Saturday January 10 at 1pm at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 3939 N. Alvernon Way, Tucson, AZ 85718.
