
Peggy was born in Boston, Mass. on Oct 28, 1924 to Janie Belle Wing and John Joseph Molloy.
She was a 1943 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida, where she met and later married her husband of 47 years, Harvey Eugene Gill. They were married in New Orleans on June 15, 1946. From this union came four children: Cynthia Jean, Gregory Bruce, Michael Steven and Deborah Kay.
In the early years following her high school graduation, she attended business school in Atlanta, Georgia, briefly worked as a riveter in an airplane assembly factory, performed in a tap dance troupe for the USO, was a flight attendant for Delta Airlines, and later worked as a secretary for the Civil Service. Harvey was a career officer with the US Army, and after their marriage she spent many years traveling around the world and being an active officer's wife. She was president of the Officer's Wives’ Club at several of their duty stations. While the president of the Club in Korea she helped establish and fund a Korean orphanage. She and her husband retired from the Army in 1977 and moved to Tucson, Arizona. After her husband's death in 1993, she continued to reside in Tucson for the remainder of her life.
Peggy enjoyed painting, playing cards (especially Spite & Malice), and loved visiting with her family. She made many good friends throughout her life and will be greatly missed by them and her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Bob) Sprunk, Platte Center, Nebraska; son, Michael Gill, Jupiter, Florida; daughter, Deborah (Gary) Smalling, Tucson, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Chandell Gill, Georgetown, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Laura) Sprunk, Columbus, Nebraska; Christine (Dan) Chitwood, Flagstaff, Arizona; Jonathan (Terri) Sprunk, Omaha, Nebraska; Eric (Karie) Gill, San Diego, California; Chauna (Scott) Weyermuller, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana; Maile (Jack) James; Michael (Angie Munger) Smalling; Megan Molloy Helser; Samantha (Ben Hoover) Smalling, all of Tucson, Arizona; and 16 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind her loyal beloved companion dog, Tiger.
She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harvey; her son, Gregory; her grandson, Adam Gill; her loyal companion dog, Lola; her Aunt Lucille; many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Peggy's cremains will be put to rest in a private family service at her husband's shared gravesite at the historic Fort Huachuca Post Cemetery.
Peggy was a generous and charitable woman, and felt strongly that no child should go hungry. She also had a great love for animals, especially dogs.
