Mary Joyce ASHTON
August 15, 1922 – February 14, 2017
ASHTON, Mary Joyce 94, passed away on February 14, 2017 in Tucson, AZ. She was a daughter of Peter H. Beck and Emma A. Johnson Beck from Royal, Iowa. Mary was a 1944 graduate of Kahler Nursing School in Rochester, Minnesota. On June 20, 1946, she married Russell R. Bowling, a United States Air Force pilot. Russell was killed in an aviation accident in 1956. Mary later became very active in the Gold Star Wives, holding many positions. Mary married Eric Ashton on November 22, 1959. They were later divorced. Her passion was playing contract bridge and achieved Life Master. Mary also loved to travel visiting every state in the US and many foreign countries. Her love of her church and the many friends she had there was a treasure for her. Mary was predeceased by her oldest son, Robert L. Bowling, her parents and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca J. Bowling (Dallas R. Stone), son, George F. Ashton (Sandy) and son, Jack S. Ashton; sister, Doris J. Hausmann; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2017 at Desert Skies Methodist Church, 3255 N. Houghton Rd, Tucson, AZ 85749.
