Mary A. Bohan 87, died July 26, 2013 in Tucson, AZ. She was born in New York City, the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Bohan of Ulster Park, NY and the sister of the late Norman C. Bohan also of Ulster Park. Mary was an honors graduate of the Academy of Saint Ursula in Kingston, NY. She earned a B.A. degree Cum Laude from the College of New Rochelle, an M.A. in Art Education from New York University, and a Fine Arts Certificate from Cooper Union Art School. She worked in New York City as a copywriter for department stores and freelanced. Mary was an accomplished writer, painter, and clay artist. She exhibited her paintings in shows throughout New England and participated in Clay and Art Studies in New York City, Woodstock, and Tucson. Mary's clay art was featured in juried exhibits and exhibitions in Phoenix and Tucson. She was an active member of the Southern Arizona Clay Artists and the Arizona Designer Craftsmen and was an artist-friend of the Tohono Chul Park. Mary enjoyed traveling across the United States and into Canada and Mexico. Her travels also took her to Europe. When in the East, Mary looked forward crewing sloops in the Atlantic. She was an avid photographer, capturing the people and places she visited. Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, M. Frances Bohan of Mc Lean, VA; four nephews and two nieces.
