Born May 29, 1950, Mary Ellen “Molly” Hunt Merkel passed into glory on December 17, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gordon D. Merkel and her 4 children: Carri Hensley and her husband Robert, Heather Merkel, Joshua Merkel and his wife Ruth Ann and Benjamin Merkel and his wife Claudia and 10 grandchildren; Jessica, Samuel, David, Lucille, Peter, Logan, Alice, Savannah, Catherine, and William.
Molly was a teacher for 25 years. At first, she was reluctant to take the position; but her mother Mary strongly encouraged her to become a teacher. Once she started teaching, her mother Mary and stepfather Earl said she was the most natural teacher they had ever seen. Even though Mary loved teaching, her favorite job by far was being a grandma. She was greatly loved, and she will be greatly missed.
