

SANDERS, Mary "Elizabeth" Redman, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2010. She was born in rural Clark County in Illinois on June 17, 1922 to Clarence and Lola Redman. She attended first through eighth grade in a one room school house, Richwoods Elementary. Elizabeth then attended Westfield High School and graduated in 1940. During this time, she attended a primitive Baptist Church. After high school, she traveled to California where she met Charles Sanders in 1943. They were married in McLeansboro, Illinois in 1945. They shared 64 years of marriage before he passed away on June 10, 2010. Elizabeth was a Navy wife who traveled all over the world. Elizabeth and Charles had three children, Susan Jane who was born aboard the USS Repose in China, Debra Lee who was born in Maryland, and John Charles who was born in Hawaii. In 1966, Elizabeth started working for the Chesapeake and Potomac Bell Company. When Elizabeth and Charles moved to Tucson, AZ in 1972, she transferred to AT&T where she worked until she retired. Elizabeth and Charles then moved to Sun Lakes, AZ where they attended the Sun Lakes Baptist Church. They returned to Tucson in 2009 and attended the Sun and Shield Baptist Church of Avra Valley. Elizabeth loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, and her gardens were always beautiful. She also loved to play card games, read and complete crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, her daughter, Susan and her beloved husband, Charles. She is survived by her children, Debra Lee McClanahan and husband, Mike and John and Karen Sanders; her grandchildren, Rebecca Hitchman and husband, Curtis, David Mattson and wife, Jill, Josh Lowry and Sammy, Jeff Kappler and wife, Nicole, Sean McClanahan, Ryan McClanahan and wife, Breann, Charlie Sanders and Alex Sanders and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
