

Mary Magdaline Wallace went home to be with the Lord and her loved ones who have preceded her in death on October 2, 2025. Mary was born June 1, 1932 in Hickman County, Tennessee to parents Roxie Odell Givens Powell and Clinton Harrison Powell. On May 13, 1950 she married William Wallace, a World War 2 veteran in Quartzsite, Arizona. After living a short while in Blythe, California, they moved and worked in Yuma, Arizona until they later moved to Tucson, Arizona with their two boys in 1961. Mary was a working mother and balanced raising her sons and work. She held a variety of jobs: waitress, head hotel housekeeper, she cooked for schools and nursing homes and later was an apartment manager. She was resourceful and liked people. Besides working for many years, Mary helped raise her two grandsons and a great granddaughter. She was an avid seamstress, making many clothes for her great granddaughter. She also made some beautiful quilts.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 2001 as well as seven brothers and three sisters. She also lost a grandson, Kenneth Wallace, in 2012. She is survived by sons Wayne and Larry (Joelle De Franks) as well as grandson Jason Wallace (Michelle), two great grandsons, two great granddaughters and her sister, Ruby Maydean Baker and sister-in-law Barbara Powell Watts, both from Nashville, Tennessee. There are numerous nieces and nephews mostly around the Nashville, Tennessee area. Mary will be entombed next to her husband of over 51 years in Eastlawn cemetery, Tucson, Arizona.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s name to a charity of one’s choice. She was truly loved and she will truly be missed.
