He is survived by his wonderful, dedicated and loving wife of 65 years, Jennie Scott King, brother, John Keith King, daughters Lindsey Evans Dewart and Michelle Scott Guarino, grandchildren Aimie Billon, Angela Batiz-Lannon, Heather Southard and Jennie Price, and great-grandchildren Elliette Piper Scott, David Isaiah, Andres Evan, Brianna Alexis and Ethen Alejandro. Maurice was heartbreakingly predeceased his granddaughter Allison Dewart.
In addition to his commitment to raising his family, Mr. King accumulated over 50 years of experience in aerospace engineering and engineering management, with his own company and with three major aerospace corporations, each in a different country. He was principal stockholder and chief executive officer of The King Group, founded in and under the laws of the state of California, principal stockholder and president of Bushmaster Incorporated in Nevada, Chief Project Engineer – Naval Tactical and Trainer Systems in Ohio and Director of Maple Venture (M) Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia. He was also principal consultant for various military projects for the U.S. Government and also was Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Ohio State University.
From the age range of 18 to 23, Mr. King was concurrently educated and trained at The de Havilland Aircraft Company, specifically the Aeronautical Technical School located in North London, focusing on combined academic engineering and practical apprenticeship courses. During this timeframe, Mr. King was also involved in a six month assignment with the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough, (RAE), as de Havilland Aircraft technical representative working at the high and low speed wind tunnel facility.
This education is documented by the Diplomes of the Royal Aeronautical Society, (The RAeS headquarters located in the United Kingdom), and is equivalent to a Master’s of Science Degree in the United States. His formal education, Membership in the Royal Aeronautical Society and ranking as a Chartered Engineer enabled Mr. King to lecture at the university level.
Mr. King is also the official patent assignee for the North American OV-10A Light Armed Reconnaissance Airplane. This aircraft has been utilized by the Air Force, Marines and Navy for over 40 years.
To add to his list of achievements and acknowledgements, Mr. King was identified by Rockwell as one of the four most capable managers in the entire company during his tenure. Evidence of his mastery and disciplined knowledge, expertise and principal source of program management and management consultation were distinctly showed in his commitment to all projects is his significant role. The most noteworthy programs managed by Mr. King were:

• The Rockwell F-14 Contract Definition Contracted work
• The OV-10 program from inception to squadron introduction
• The Space-Based Electromagnetic Gun; self defense initiatives
• EMG Projectile programs “GREMLIN” and “LEAP”
• The MARS Miniaturized Seeker/Sensor Project
• The “STAMP” (Apteron) program
• Senior Design Specialist for the B-70 Valkyrie, A3J-1 Vigilante and the ASA and RA5C versions of the Vigilante
• Chief of Systems Design with Avro Aircraft in Ontario, Canada
His ability to manage, plan, direct and control major systems with high technical content and massive budgets as engineering manager for the space-based electromagnetic gun program were consistently demonstrated in addition to sensitive detailed research in human factor analysis, survivability, vulnerability and lethality of systems engineering.
Another project of Mr. King’s focus during his career involved Bushmasters Incorporated design of a multi-purpose utility aircraft of light transport that could be utilized as either an air ambulance or resources survey aircraft for both border and maritime patrols.
Mr. King enjoyed his retirement years with his wife in their Tombstone, Arizona home. He collected and restored Britain’s Toy Soldiers, Dinky Toys and toy trains. He and his daughter, Michelle, were members of the Toy Train Operating Society, (TTOS).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a charitable donation be made to his granddaughter's memorial foundation, Allison Dewart Memorial Scholarship Foundation, or take the time to enjoy a train ride and remember Maury whenever you hear a train whistle.
