He was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 2, 1942. Michael graduated from West High School and received a Bachelors from Franklin University. He married Leona W. Prater on February 14, 1981.
Michael had a career in accounting for the Internal Revenue Service. He had a passion for tennis when not at work.
He is survived by his wife; son Michael E. Prater, Jr.; brother James W. Prater; and his Aunt Hattie Bell.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on March 10, 2017 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 12:00 pm unitl 1:00pm on March 10, 2017. Graveside will follow the service at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
