Naomi Melchert Novinski

Naomi Novinski (Catherine Naomi Melchert Novinski) died Saturday, October 7, 2017. She was born in New Orleans, LA, on June 17, 1922, and has been a Tucson resident since 1962. She is survived by her daughter Nann Novinski Durando and her husband Tony; daughter Nathalie Novinski Bliss and her husband Rick; granddaughter Chiara Durando, her husband Kevin Opalka and their children Adriana and Talan; granddaughter Bianca Durando Lemos, her husband John and their children Gisella and Matteo; grandson Michael Durando and his wife Shahed; and Rick’s children Evan and Heather. Naomi was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Norbert Lawrence Novinski, and their son, Larry (Norbert Lawrence Novinski II). Her husband’s Air Force career resulted in the family's living in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, England, Morocco, Taiwan, The Philippines, Washington D.C., Omaha, and Spokane. After an assignment at Davis-Monthan AFB, they chose Tucson for their retirement. Naomi was a long time member of St. Cyril's Parish and for the last 20 years has been a member of St. Pius X Parish. She felt very fortunate to have traveled the world with her husband, visiting all seven continents over the years, and to have enjoyed time with her great-grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers a donation to Catholic Charities or to a favorite charity.
